El material que van recopilar i tot el que van veure els va portar a modificar aspectes fonamentals del projecte.[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;549451&#8243;]<strong>Miquel Utrillo,<\/strong> enginyer, pintor i responsable del projecte; <strong>Xavier Nogu\u00e9s<\/strong>, dibuixant i pintor, i <strong>Francesc Folguera<\/strong> i<strong> Ram\u00f3n Revent\u00f3s<\/strong>, van ser els encarregats de plantejar un recinte en el qual quedessin reflectits els elements arquitect\u00f2nics m\u00e9s emblem\u00e0tics de l&#8217;arquitectura popular espanyola. La idea inicial era derrocar-ho en finalitzar l&#8217;Exposici\u00f3 Internacional, per\u00f2 els seus creadors van acordar que havia de ser concebut com <strong>un projecte perdurable<\/strong>, com va acabar succeint.<\/p>\n<p>Les obres de construcci\u00f3 es van iniciar el 19 de gener de 1928 i el Poble Espanyol es va inaugurar<strong> el 20 de maig de 1929.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;exposici\u00f3<strong> &#8220;Un viatge fotogr\u00e0fic. Es va dur a terme un projecte per a recuperar els edificis originals i crear una \u00e0rea d&#8217;oci, una de gastronomia i una de serveis, a m\u00e9s d&#8217;una important oferta nocturna. Aquest rellan\u00e7ament es va traduir r\u00e0pidament en n\u00fameros: en 1987, 600.000 persones visiten el Poble i nom\u00e9s dos anys despr\u00e9s la xifra augmenta fins a gaireb\u00e9 un mili\u00f3. El 2016, a m\u00e9s, el recinte s&#8217;adapta encara m\u00e9s a les exig\u00e8ncies del visitant i del moment i recorre a les \u00faltimes tecnologies per a augmentar el seu contingut cultural.<\/p>\n<p>El 2020 el recinte rep un nou cop, probablement el m\u00e9s inesperat. <strong>La pand\u00e8mia mundial causada pel Covid-19<\/strong> obliga a tancar les portes del Poble durant 3 mesos. Aquest temps va servir per a<strong> replantejar els objectius i el paper del Poble<\/strong> davant una nova situaci\u00f3 mai abans viscuda i de cara a una realitat absolutament nova, plena d&#8217;incertesa per\u00f2 alhora, d&#8217;il\u00b7lusi\u00f3. L&#8217;11 de juny de 2020 el recinte reobre les seves portes i s&#8217;erigeix com un dels equipaments de Barcelona que m\u00e9s activitats ofereix al p\u00fablic local.
