VITRALOI DE JÚLIA RODRÍGUEZ
This is a trailblazing workshop where stained glass is created and restored using the leaded stained glass technique. It has been located in Poble Espanyol since 1999.
The Vitraloi workshop is a space for creating and restoring stained glass using the leaded glass technique. This technique, widely used in gothic and modernist architectural buildings as a decorative element and to make the most of natural light, is also a technique used by artists to design different decorative elements such as sculptures and accessories.
As well as the leaded glass technique, she works with other techniques such as Tiffany glass or mosaics to create smaller, more contemporary pieces.
Trencadís (shardware) is well known in Catalonia, where it has been used in many buildings to decorate walls, pillars, sculptures and floors, and was made popular by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí. This technique can be used with materials such as ceramic, marble and, in our workshop, artistic stained glass plates.
Discover this beautiful and mysterious material, the colours, textures, transparencies and luminosities.
Atrévete a conocer este bonito y misterioso material, los colores, las texturas y sus transparencias y luminosidades.
Every Friday, and on the second Saturday of the month, you can take part in 2 to 4-hour one-day handicraft workshops. With the help of Poble Espanyol's artisans, you'll learn how to apply the different techniques as well as experiencing what it's like to create an object with your own hands; whether for yourself or as a gift... it's a great idea!
