Palacio de los Contreras was built at the end of the 16th century by Fernando de Vellosillo, an illustrious son of the town of Ayllón. It is just off the Main Square on the street bordering Casa de la Torre.
Between 1972 and 1983, the palace became municipal property and underwent a complete restoration.
The Palace is currently home to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ayllón and the Municipal Library.
