Inaugurated in 1929 for the Barcelona Universal Exhibition, Poble Espanyol maintains its original spirit but has evolved with the times, adapting to the needs of locals and visitors alike.

Without doubt, strolling through Poble Espanyol, from the Main Square to the Romanesque monastery through the Andalusian quarter, is a delight. A leisurely walk on which you'll learn about much more than just architecture.

Strolling through Poble Espanyol’s streets, you’ll discover the workshops of more than 15 artisans who work here every day. You can also visit the Fran Daurel museum, a little-known modern art collection in Barcelona. Don’t forget to check out the audiovisual installations about the festivals and traditions of the different regions of Spain and be amazed by the breathtaking views of Barcelona that you can take in from the Monastery of Sant Miquel. DID YOU KNOW THAT...?

Poble Espanyol's designers travelled to 1,600 towns in a Hispano Suiza car seeking inspiration on which buildings to make replicas of in Poble Espanyol. This on its own means it is a one-of-a-kind enclosure. Here are some of the interesting facts that make the enclosure a truly special place in Barcelona:

It was intended that Poble Espanyol would be demolished when the 1929 International Exhibition was over, but it continued to function thanks to its great success and the good critical reviews it got

Some scenes from Perfume – The story of a murderer, directed by Tom Tykwer and based on the book of the same name by Patrick Süskind, were filmed in Poble Espanyol

According to Michael Eisner, president of Walt Disney from 1984 to 2005, Poble Espanyol inspired the Disney theme parks
